Wanaka Weekly

20 May 2011

More snow this week definitely has locals excited about the up and coming ski season.  And more importantly, the temperatures are dropping which means the snow makers will be up and working soon.  All the local skifields have staff working on getting the finishing touches ready for opening days in June.

I will try and keep you up to date with any changes to these dates but also remember to check into their websites for more news.

What's Coming Up

Mandy is off to TRENZ next week in Queenstown.  This is a tourism tradeshow where she will be showcasing Te Wanaka Lodge and promoting Wanaka to many New Zealand and invited international travel and tourism buyers.  This is the first time TRENZ has been held in the Southern Lakes District and is a chance to really put the spotlight on Wanaka and what we have to offer.

Work on the local walking tracks has continued and next weekend will see the official opening of the Luggate section.  This new portion of track starts at the end of the Upper Clutha Track from Albert Town, continues down to Luggate Creek and then up into the township.  A beautiful walk for the family!

Well thats it from me this week.  Keep warm!

Kylie, Mandy, Wayne and the Te Wanaka Team
